Obituary of Asher Teigman

Uszer Teigman passed away on April 29, 2020. Predeceased by his parents, Chiel & Rachella Teigman & his in-laws, Herman & Sara Kutner. Uszer is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Cypora Teigman, as well as his two sons and their wives, Alan and Jen Teigman and David and Laura Teigman and four grandchildren, Ellie, Harris, Lily and Max. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Freda and Bruce Goldman; nieces & nephews & a community of dear friends. A special thank you to Amos & Mark for their support & kindness.

Uszer was not a one- or two-dimensional person in the least, but instead had a myriad of enviable character traits. Foremost, he was a loving husband that never ceased surprising his wife with gifts on special occasions. Cypora and Uszer were true best friends who came from similar backgrounds, and they always seemed to have a spiritual bond. Their love of travel took them to Israel, India, China, Europe & many other wonderful places. To his sons, he was a role model in every way. At one moment, Uszer could be joking with his sons and at another moment he could sense the need for compassion and do anything possible for his sons.

Uszer was born in a displaced persons camp in Kassel, Germany and immigrated to Rochester, NY by way of Ellis Island. He was raised in a religious household, and as he grew into adulthood, he chose to experience the world in his own way, but he always retained his Jewish wisdom and passed much of it on to his sons. In the US, Uszer majored in mathematics and earned an MBA degree while meeting Cypora on a blind date at the same time. Cypora and Uszer soon married and built a beautiful family, many times with his in-laws by his side.

Taking his skills that he learned at college and graduate school, Uszer had a wonderful career of almost 30 years at Eastman Kodak Company. He steadily climbed the ranks at Kodak, while simultaneously gaining many lifelong friends. Uszer was often the life of the office culture as well as at holiday parties well into retirement where he was always telling jokes.

Uszer was known for his intelligent insights at work as well as at home and in social settings generally. He was incredibly well read and could add to conversations with interesting ideas and parallels to information that he read or learned.

Uszer was an incredible role model to everyone, especially his sons. His sons often sought his advice relating to their careers, business endeavors, financial decisions and with respect to their families. In many ways, without their father’s input, it is very likely that his sons would not have the careers that they have.
Uszer had an incredibly kind and sensitive soul. He was always looking for the good in people and did not speak ill of people.

Uszer was a true fighter and a medical miracle. He was one of the few people to live with Parkinson’s Disease for over 30 years. He had incredible care throughout his life, including being fortunate enough to have deep brain stimulation surgery. He never wanted to be defined by the Parkinson’s Disease, and always had an incredibly uplifting approach to life. He almost never complained. This is a gift to everyone that knew him. He wanted people to know that no matter how tough things were, that everything was still ok.
 

Funeral Services will be held privately in Britton Road Cemetery. Virtual Shiva will take place SUNDAY & MONDAY from 2-4 PM.
