Wendy & the entire Eber Family,
I only just found out about Lester’s passing. I am so so sorry. Lester was a long time lobbying client in CT and an expert in alcoholic beverage control laws and regulations. I have not met many people with his stamina. There were days he started in Rochester, stopped by the state capitols in Albany & Hartford, and then would end his day in NYC. He will be missed by many. May he rest in peace.
Fondly, David Rose (Westport, CT)

I was an associate at Omni New Haven Hotel for 19 years. Recently I relocated to Texas leaving my Omni family behind. Mr Eber was part of that family and was the kindest and nicest man. Whenever I saw him in the morning he always said good morning and had a smile on his face. He worked out in the gym in the early mornings. I was very impressed that he continued to work out at his age. He will certainly be missed! My condolences to his family!

I want to offer my condolences to the Eber family. Probably like most people, I was so shocked when I saw his obituary in the newspaper. I became good friends with Lester over the last few years and always enjoyed seeing him and talking to him at the morning minion at Temple Beth El. He definitely loved the Buffalo Bills and always asked me for my opinion on what was going on at the moment with the team. We had a good time attending Bills games together in the past few years and he was so happy that I introduced him to doing a pregame breakfast together at the Original Pancake house in Amherst. The last time I saw him was probably mid February and we had breakfast at the Char Broil after minion one morning. I will definitely miss his friendship and seeing him. Lester was always interesting to talk to and he had a good perspective on the world and Politics etc.
I would say that he probably left his tefillin at Temple in the downstairs Chapel and I will be happy to look for them so that they can end up with the family. My only fear is that like most people, he probably didn't put his name on the bag
Sincerely,
Julian Goldstein

We were friends of Lester for many many years. He started out as a Salesman of ours at Penfield Liquor Store and he always took such great care of us and his family. He visited us at our home in Walworth and my mom remembered a time when Lester came out and we had cows and as the cows moved closer to the fence the further Lester backed away from the fence. My mom shares that story often as a great memory of him. He will be sadly missed. Our condolences to the entire family.

We were so sad to hear of Lester's passing. Lester was just an amazing person who packed so much into each and every day. I feel blessed to have worked with Lester for the past 23 years through his volunteer efforts on our Rochester Management Board of Directors. Despite how busy Lester was with his work and travel, he was always completely engaged with our work. Lester served on our volunteer Board for 50 years! He was an intelligent and informed advocate for our non profit, each housing company, all of our residents and employees too. He was loved by all. I will always be so grateful for his wise advice as well his warm friendship.
Such a unique and caring spirit. All of us at Rochester Management are sending our prayers to Ellen, David, Wendy and your entire family. Lester always was so happy to share about his family.

We are so sorry to hear of Lester's passing. You may not remember us but we were neighbors living at 55 Coral Way years ago and Wendy and David were playmates with our daughters Cheryl and Marcia. During the last few years I would run into Lester at Wegmans Pittsford and we would talk and share a few reminiscences of years gone by. I always thought of Lester as a gentle and gentleman, intelligent, thoughtful and compassionate. May his memory serve to comfort his family and be remembered as a blesssing.

My condolences and prayers go with Lester and his family at this sorrowful time. Lester was a staunch supporter as I pursued my political career in county and state politics. Over many years he became, even more, a dear friend.
I will cherish the memory of almost literally “bumping into” Lester on a street corner in Manhattan as I emerged from St. Patrick’s Cathedral after attending afternoon mass. Pleased at the unexpected meeting, he invited me to join him and his son, David along with a company representative, for dinner nearby. We talked and laughed & discussed world events long into the evening.
“You never know”, he said, “who you’re going to meet in church”!
I am grateful to have had this fine man as a part of my life.

We knew Lester from our time at the St. Lawrence River during the summer and fun evenings spent at Grenadier Island Country Club playing tennis and enjoying many club prepared dinners on Saturday evenings. Before Ellen left the river, my family and I and a few good friends sipped some delicious wine and tasted a fabulous lunch prepared by Ellen sharing stories and laughter all the while gazing out at the rippling waters of the St. Lawrence River. Later on, when my Husband Dick Stockton started coming to the river, we met Lester on the weekends for tennis and enjoyed sharing a warm “Hello” with Wendy and David and their family when they came to visit. Lester was truly “one-of-a kind”. An engaging, intelligent, friendly man who never met a stranger. It was a privilege for us to know him and call him our friend. Our hearts are sad right now and we share that sadness with you Ellen, David, and Wendy and your family. With Love, Jamie Drinkwater Stockton and Dick Stockton
