Obituary of William Goldstein
Bill Goldstein, age 86, passed away on December 3, 2019. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. Bill had a smile and personality that would light up a room and a friendly word to all those fortunate enough to cross his path. While he lived his entire life in Rochester, NY, he saw the world while serving his country in the US Army, traveling with his beloved wife Rhoda, and through the eyes and stories of his children. Bill graduated Benjamin Franklin High School in 1952 and Syracuse University in 1959. Bill earned All American honors as a soccer player at Syracuse before establishing a long career in Rochester as a highly respected Certified Public Accountant. Bill loved helping his clients and established many lifelong relationships through his CPA practice. He was a leader in every sense of the word and worked hard through many community leadership positions to give back to the local Jewish community as well as so many other community organizations. He was extremely proud to have served as President of the Rochester JCC as well as the Rochester chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs. Bill was also an avid golfer and racquetball player and a competitive force to all those who competed against him. He was a member of Temple Beth-El and Irondequoit Country Club for over 50 years.
Throughout Bill’s life, nothing was more important than his family. He is predeceased by his loving wife Rhoda, his parents Nathan and Sophie, his twin sister Edna, brother Perry and sister Ada. Bill is survived by his loving children, Sandy (Marla) of Westchester, NY, Stuart (Shari) of Charlotte, NC and Daniel (Victoria) of Rochester; as well as his loving grandchildren Dylan, Sophie, Jacob, Samuel, Steven and Sarah; his brother Sol, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family is eternally grateful to his many devoted caregivers, and to John and Meredith Hunt and the Caring Hearts staff, for many years of dedicated care and friendship.
