Edward Scott Long
Passed peacefully on October 29, 2019, at age 61 after a short battle with cancer. Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Rhoda Long. He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Wendy Way; siblings Shelley Long, Brian (Lois) Long, Jane (John) Lasky and Richard (Karen) Long; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends and his devoted dog Indiana.
Ed graduated from West Irondequoit High School in 1976. He caught the comedy bug early in his life when he answered an audition for a local improv group. He and a fellow improv member went on to form their own duo called the Hard Times Comedy Players. Eventually, Ed moved to Long Island to pursue a career as a stand-up comic performing at clubs across the United States for over 15 years. Between comedy gigs he worked in the field of promotional advertising which he continued to do full time after he retired from comedy in the mid-90s.
One of Ed's passions was traveling the world. Whether it was visiting the Colosseum in Rome or on a safari in South Africa, Ed and Wendy found joy in exploring new cultures, cuisines and getting to know the local peoples. However, one of their favorite places to spend time was back here in the US at Walt Disney World. For Ed, it was the 'happiest place on earth," and he and Wendy planned on working there when they both retired. He is gone too soon and will be greatly missed.
