I'm kind of in shock. I met Ed in Rochester when he was half of the Hard Luck Comedy Players. I guess I performed up there often enough for us to become really good friends. Then he moved south and we gigged and hung out together on a very regular basis. Ed and I never fell out of touch. We remained good friends, if on Facebook, literally until, I thought, this moment.
Wendy, you and I never got to meet but I'm sure you know who I am just as I know who you are. You may have been robbed of some years with Ed, but for the time you had him, you had one of the best people on earth. I cannot, no matter how hard I try, bring to mind a cruel word or unkind gesture that ever came from the man. He was an uber-mensch. I can't possible feel your loss as you do, but this news comes very, very hard. All my deepest sympathy.

Dear Shelley & Wendy,
Having known Ed since 5th grade, please allow me to express the sadness and sense of loss being felt from Ed's Irondequiot peer group. He was a close friend to so many of us. Not only was Ed a great classmate and one of the fastest base runners in gym class but also a true humorist who kept us all laughing. His most requested bit was his hilarious imitation of our 7th grade Industrial Arts teacher Mr. Lucy. Ed would happily perform it at every reunion to a very appreciative audience. None of us knew Ed was ill and are reeling from his passing. We shall all miss Ed. Please accept our condolences. RIP Ed. - spider '76

We could always count on Ed for the best Spirit Day outfits. This is only one of many.
Aside from being such a wonderful person, He always made us laugh, no surprise there. He will be sorely missed by all of us at Viatech

One of my fondest, and dearest memories of Ed:
It’s Thanksgiving, 2013. I am part of a group of teachers traveling with our travel agency, ACIS. I’ve traveled with Wendy and Ed for a number of years. This year, we are in Palermo, Italy, and are at a local restaurant having dinner with our group.
All of a sudden, the band begins to play Hava Nagila. (This is Palermo, for goodness sake!!)
Ed and I look at each other with that member of the tribe acknowledgement.
We jump up, join hands, and without another word, Ed and I begin to dance the Hora, the dance that is appropriate to Hava Nagila!!!!
He brought that wonderful spontaneity and joy to the lives he touched.
We will miss him.....

I was lucky enough to travel with Ed and Wendy many times over the past six or more years. I could always count on them, Ed especially, for great photos. This is my favorite of all my 'Ed' photos as to me it shows his joy, and his humor! His love for Wendy was obvious as was his passion to explore and to bring happiness to others. I will miss him.

My big brother Ed,As always Ed was there for everyone and back in 1987 when I decided to move to Las Vegas, Ed went on the road trip with me.He wasnt good at driving a stick shift so he navigated. Thru the grand canyon, painted desert and across the country we laughed and the funny thing was when we got a hotel room,, with my red hair and Ed and me having the same last name,... they thought we were a couple and offered a queen bed,, of course that didnt happen but we laughed about it and being labor day weekend we went together to the famous Jerry Lewis Labor Day telethon that we always watched on TV ,, so fun,,, anyhow i have so many more memories but just being with Ed, he made you laugh and smile,, I will always be blessed by my memories and miss him already
