Obituary of Ita S. Weingarten
March 11, 2019 at the age of 72. Predeceased by her parents, Alex and Aliza Stark. Survived by her loving husband, Howard: children, Tracy (Jeremy) Meltzer and Eric (Wendy) Weingarten; grandchildren, Olivia & R. Jamieson Weingarten, Evan Oakes, Brandon & Hannah Meltzer; loving and caring sisters, Nili Kinel and Iris (David) Stark-Mand; and nieces and nephews, Michael (Kathy) Kinel, Alan (Shari) Kinel, Sandra (Todd) Kinel Bernhard, Jennifer Mand-Mabila, Danielle (Scott) Rogers, Melissa (Jeff) Zuckerman, Carrie (Robert) Horowitz and Elspeth Weingarten.
Having worked as an educator at Hillel School and Temple Beth El School for 45 years she loved enriching the lives of children and the people around her of their heritage. She would continue the love of teaching Jewish education to her five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her larger than life personality always shown through all that she did. As a beloved Savta, she will always be remembered for her endless supply of banana bread, her infamous chicken soup and her enduring love, hugs and advice.
The family would also like to offer their deep felt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Morgan, Dr. Quill, Dr. Barham, and the entire ICU team at Highland Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be at Temple Beth El WEDNESDAY, March 13, 2019 at 10 AM. Click HERE for a map to Temple.
Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Shiva will be observed from March 13, 2019 until March 19, 2019 from 1 – 3 PM and 6 – 9 PM at 20 Barclay Square in Brighton. Click HERE for a map to Shiva.
Please note - the family will NOT be sitting Shiva on Friday March 15 from 6 - 9 PM and Saturday March 16 from 1 - 3 PM & 6 - 9 PM.
