Dear Barbie, Michael and Susie (your childhood names!)
I was saddened to hear of your Mom's death. She was always, ALWAYS kind to Ezra and me. She was the only parent who called me "Daniel", which I liked. I remember sitting in front of the black & white TV eating cucumbers and green peppers and watching the Mickey Mouse Club.
She reminded me of both my mother and my grandmother in temperament and looks. This was a great comfort to me when I was little, as I wasn't sure if I had two (or three) female parents (I was always ahead of my time, I guess!) She will be missed by you all, but also by those who knew her. A mean bone in her body she didn't have.
May her memory be for a blessing.
Danny

Dear Hellmans,
I can't tell you how often I think about our tremendous good luck growing up on the Ericsson Street and Harvard Street of the 1950s and early 1960s. The Lipsons, the Alfords, the Katzens, the Yudelsons, the Weisses and especially the Hellmans. Your mother's passing closed the book on that once and for all, but remember all the great times? Trips to the Hellman place at Conesus Lake were always a special treat involving water skiing, ice cream at Meizensahls and great fun with the whole group. Later on your dad would be scout leader for me and Michael in Troop 58. Your mother was one of our mother's closest friends and was always at our family bar mitzvahs, weddings and other celebrations.
Wishing you comfort in your loss.
Ezra

Dear Hellman kids, who grew up across the street and whom I always knew: your mom and my mom were really good friends. Plus, I learned to water ski behind your father's boat at the lake. It might have been a long time ago, but we go back. I was sorry to hear that Esther had passed on, but I have really good memories of your family.

Dear Barbara, Michael, and Susan,
So sad to get news of your dear mother's passing. I always loved her, from the earliest I can remember. She was a wonderful friend to my mother, who cared for her deeply. You were lucky to have her and I know her memory will always be a blessing to all of you and to all who knew her.
With much love, Mollie

My life was enriched by my friendship with Esther Hellman. She had a way of brightening up any conversation with her wit, her keen sense of humor and her never ending interest and compassion towards her friends and family. I will never forget her love of laughter or the interesting stories which she generously shared from time to time. She will always be remembered by me as a fine and gentle lady who was so very proud of her heritage and of her children, grandchild, husband and relatives. She was a devoted mother to her children, and a steadfast friend to those of us lucky enough to have had the honor of knowing her. Esther will be sadly missed, but she will never be forgotten by me. My heart goes out to all of her family members at this very sad time.
