Irving was more than a good neighbor -- he was a calm and steadying presence; someone you were grateful to have live nearby. We loved his wit, his intelligence, and his warmth as we lived next to each other for over 35 years. We shared joys and sorrows about family life, political life, and neighborhood life. We shared traditions and holidays. He was a good and decent man with a compassionate heart, and we will miss him dearly.
