Obituary of Myron S. Lewis

Brigadier General, Myron S. Lewis Passed away September 6, 2006 at age 85. He is survived by wife Marcia S. Lewis daughters, Dr. Bonnie (Daniel) Pfoutz, of Arlington, VA, Major Karon Lewis, USAR step-daughters, Leeza (Patrick) Mulloy, Helen Schirazi (Fiancé, Darric Beach) both of Charlotte, NC granddaughter, Hannah (Zachary) Grieco of Arlington, VA step-grandchildren, Ashley Margaret Mulloy & Ava Leigh Mulloy of Charlotte, NC sister, Ruth L. Lewis brother, Dr. Ephraim Lewis nieces, nephews, grand-nephews & grandnieces. He is predeceased by his wife, Katherine R. Lewis, Attorney brother, Aaron Lewis sisters, Bernice Relin & Irene Mitlof and parents, Maurice & Mary G. Lewis. General Lewis served as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs at the Pentagon for five years. He was active in the U.S. Army Reserves until his retirement in 1977. He served as Staff Judge Advocate & Chief of Staff of the 98th Division (TNG) in Rochester, NY. He commanded the 4th Brigade of the 98th Division (TNG). He was promoted to Brigadier General while serving in the office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon. Mike went to Cornell University, BA, 1942, Cornell Law School, Dr. of Law with Distinction, 1947 and attended Cite University, Part of the Sorbonne, Paris, France, 1946. His Awards & Honors include: Cornell Law Quarterly, Editor in Chief, Cornell Law School, Order of the Coif, US Army: Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Purple Heart Office of Secretary of Defense Identification Badge Artillery Order of Saint Barbara. Professionally, he was admitted to practice law in the New York Supreme Court, US District Court Western District of New York, Supreme Court of the US and the US Court of Military Appeals. He was a partner in Liebschutz, Sutton, DeLeeuw, Clark and Lewis Attorneys and a partner in Liebschutz, Lewis, Gray & Delucia Attorneys. Lewis: General Lewis served as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs at the Pentagon for five years. He was commissioned 2nd Lt. Field Artillery from Cornell University ROTC as an Honor Graduate. He served four years of active duty in the Army as a Field Artillery Battery Commander during WWII including serving with the 100th Infantry Division in the US & with the 790th Field Artillery Battalion, an 8" Howitzer Battalion, as a Battery Commander under the 15th & 3rd Armies in combat in Europe, also Director of Logistics, Camp Detroit France. Upon return from Europe he was active in the U.S. Army Reserves until his retirement in 1977. He served as Staff Judge Advocate & Chief of Staff of the 98th Division (TNG) in Rochester, NY.
