Obituary of Bernard A. Yablin

Dr. Bernard A. Yablin Passed away on January 17, 2016, at the age of 87. Predeceased by his parents, Nathan and Tessie (Cohen) Yablin; and sister, Shirley Dubnoff. Survived by his loving wife, JoAnn Price-Yablin; daughters, Vanessa (Peter) Ochs, Rachelle (Larry Federman) Yablin, Adrian Yablin (M. Britton Sparks) and Dorian Yablin; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; stepson, Erik Fries; nephew, Ira (Estelle) Dubnoff; and niece, Barbara (Jaynet) Dubnoff-Bayanker. The family would like to thank all the staff at The Jewish Home of Rochester for their 16 years of dedicated quality care. Dr. Yablin was born in Watertown on June 26, 1928, and attended Watertown High School where he graduated as Valedictorian in 1945. He received his BA and MD from Cornell University. From 1956 – 1958, Dr. Yablin served as a Captain in the US Army in Okinawa as a Pediatrician. He later became a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester, followed by being an Attending Pediatrician at Rochester General Hospital. He was the sole practitioner of Perinton Pediatrics until 1995. Dr. Yablin wrote research papers in places throughout the world, including Baguio, Tokyo, Prague, Herzliya and Jerusalem. In 1986, along with his wife JoAnn, he wrote and presented a research paper in Jerusalem. Dr. Yablin was a member of Temple B’rith Kodesh, The Kauffman Post #41, Jewish War Veterans of America, Monroe County Medical Society and Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity. Funeral Services will be held on THURSDAY, January 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Temple B'rith Kodesh located at 2131 Elmwood Avenue in Brighton. Click here for a map to the Temple.
