I came to know Bernie as a friend, since he was a golfing buddy of my father's (Andy Lovenheim). When the gang got to old to golf, I would join them for lunches at the club, or later at Fox's. When my father died, my sister Jane and I kept up the tradition. Every time I was in Rochester we would invite Bernie and Irv to lunch, but the venue shifted to Bill Gray's in Panorama. After my sister died, it was just Bernie and Irv and I. Then just Bernie and I. We kept it up as long as he could. Our last date was supposed to be the beginning of October. He called to apologize but said he didn't feel up to it. I talked to him a few days later, and he said he was better, but not good. I will miss him, miss our lunches, and miss his endless talks about the best cuts of meat.He always wanted me to come to dinner at the Summit to show me how he had forced them to use a better meat supplier. I never got there, but Jane and Larry went once and reported that it was not worth going back a second time. In fact, I am sure in his apartment you will find a big size book called "Meat." I gave it to him. He was thrilled. Gave us more fodder for cow conversations. So I will miss my old friend, and the last buddy of the golf foursome. All my sympathy, Robert Lovenheim

Although I haven't seen Bernie in a long time(being the fact that we live in California), I have many fond memories of him. Great guy with a fabulous sense of humor. Never saw him without a kibbitz and a joke. Our deepest condolences to his family. Alan and Mary
