Obituary of Helen M. Margolis

Margolis, Helen M. (Diamond) Boca Raton, FL: February 26, 2008 at age 74. Predeceased by her parents, Lillian & David Diamond. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Seymour; children, Sharon (Dov) Margolis Apfel, Lawrence (Judy) Margolis; grandchildren, Lori & Daniella Apfel, Adam Margolis; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Evelyn (Manson) Scull, Dorothy Silver, Eleanor Sorkin; several devoted nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews. Helen was born April 22, 1933 in Rochester, New York. She was a graduate of Monroe High School & received an Associates Degree in Art from RIT. She married Sy in 1954, the same year they purchased Sy's Drug Store on Dewey & Driving Park Avenues, which they owned and operated until 1987. Helen wrote for many years the Rochester Chapter Kidney Foundation's Newsletter & the Community Newsletter of Costa Brava in FL. In 1994 they moved to Boca Raton, FL. In addition to spending time with her family & friends, she loved animals and enjoyed being a Pet Therapist. She was active in the B'nai Torah Sisterhood in Boca Raton and served on their Board. She enjoyed pursuing her interest in Art as well as devoting much of her time to many charities. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 10:30 AM in the Main Sanctuary of Temple Beth El (139 Winton Rd. S). Map to Temple Beth El. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. A Period of Mourning will be observed at 85 Carverdale Drive in Brighton, Friday 1-3 PM, Saturday 7-9 PM and Sunday through Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Map to the house of mourning.
