I am so saddened to hear of the death of Dr. Gruber. My ophthalmologist since I was 5 years old, he was kind, compassionate, and comforting to a scared little girl. He inspired me to become a physician myself. Condolences to his family. I am so saddened to hear of the death of Dr. Gruber. Dr. Gruber was a wonderful doctor, and will be missed by many former patients. It was his kind, soothing voice that made the biggest impression on me as a child. I am glad he was able to live a long, happy life. He will be missed.

On behalf of the Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired, I'd like to express our sympathy to the Gruber Family. Dr. Gruber made a significant impact to ABVI in the 1960’s by establishing our Low Vision Center. For decades, he was an advocate for our mission, and because of his efforts tens of thousands of people in the greater Rochester community who live with vision loss, live better lives. We are grateful for all that he did.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 1 PM at Congregation Beth Sholom, 1161 Monroe Ave.
