For the way that he cared, for the way that he served others, for the way that he made us laugh, for the way he always had a kind word, for the way he encouraged, for the way that he loved, Earl made this world a better place. His passing is a huge loss to our community, and we are left with the cherished memories of how he touched and enriched our lives. We were privileged to know Earl as a friend and neighbor, and we will never forget his kindness, thoughtfulness, warmth, and enthusiasm for life. We miss you, Earl. We pray that God's presence and comfort will surround Esther and the entire Krakower family.

As I walk in and out of my day-to-day life in Rochester, it is so hard to believe I will not be bumping into Earl along my travels. He was everywhere for everyone. To us he was and will always be the friendly, helpful, enthusiastic "Face of Rochester". We feel so priviledged to have had Earl as our first friend in town when we arrived three years ago. As my husband, Bob, said: "Earl was always helping someone. All he wanted to do was make people happy." And that is what he did every single day. What an amazing accomplishment. Earl lived large and he lived joyfully and he shared that all freely and openly with everyone who walked across his path. He was kind, generous, astute, sincere and above all, loving. His passing leaves a void in the city of Rochester, but his kind acts live on in our memories and continue to touch our community and our personal lives for the good of all.

My husband and I met Earl two years ago, when our realtor in Boca Raton told us he'd found us the best real estate agent in Rochester. And he did! At least for us. He made the experience that best it could be. And we loved continuing the relationship with Earl and Esther. They both helped us so much getting established in a new place. It was always such a pleasure to run into him around town. I didn't know him very long or very well but I will miss him.

I knew Earl from the early 1970s when he and a colleague came to visit to talk about teaching at his home University, McGill where I was a professor. We hit it off immediately. I watched his fine sons grow up over the years and even had them in a chemistry class. It was always a treat to visit Earl and Esther with my chemistry friends, Joe, Ariel and Lenny Fine. We were all shocked and deeply saddened to hear of his passing and I just wish I had had the opportunity to receive one of his crushing hugs one more time. He loved Montreal, Rochester and his family - that was clear just in talking with him for a few minutes. He would startle me by calling on the phone to START the conversation in a booming voice-- "WHAT DO YOU WANT? I AM VERY BUSY. DO YOU NEED MONEY?....OR...."TIRED---CASH FLOW". The humor never stopped- he was a great man and we loved him.

Esther and Family; I was shocked and so sad to hear of Earl's sudden death. How I loved to pick up the phone and hear that deep voice say: 'Hi, it's Earl...how are you dear?' We would catch up, especially wrt our grandchildren as we have granddaughers about the same age; what a joy they were to him. Earl was not only a good friend but good to his friends; who else would come to the new house the day of the move, to ask if everything was OK and present a 'welcome to your new home' gift? I have many fond memories; calls on late Friday afternoon asking us to join the two of you at 3 Flags, my 50th birthday party at the Mendon House and walking the beaches of the Cape with Earl trying to get a phone signal the weekend of the Adduci anniversary. Esther, I hope time will help your family recover from the pain of his loss; he was the biggest 'force of nature' I ever met and he still owes me a lunch...

It has been said that when our heroes begin to die, it is time for us to step up to the plate and take their place. Earl was definitely a hero in our community and with his family. We find comfort in knowing that the love and joy he has spread throughout our community will continue through the lives he has personally touched, including our own. It is with great sadness to know that Rochester has lost an amazing friend. xoxo

We are so very saddened and shocked at Earl's passing. Having only known him a short time, we valued his friendship, kindness, sense of humor and jovial laugh. We will miss him and and the possible happy times we might have spent together. Our thoughts and sympathy are with Esther and his loving family.
