Obituary of Hildegard S. Herz
Passed away on April 3, 2017 at age 93. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Arthur H. Herz; and siblings, Moshe and Maria Blum and Ursula Granite. She is survived by her children, Judy (Roy Benedek) Meredith, Susan (Fran Demiany) Herz, Eva Herz, and Josh (Ruth Fried) Herz; grandchildren, Tom (Aisha Ayers) Meredith, Rebecca (Eric Raymond) Meredith, Beth Herz, and Naomi Herz; great grandchildren, Mavis Meredith and Lukas Raymond; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews, along with many valued friends.
Higa was a refugee from Nazi Germany, a West High Phys-Ed teacher, a social worker, a tireless volunteer for numerous local organizations, a past President of ARC Monroe County, and a public speaker on her experience as a parent of a special needs child. Higa showed marvelous grace in both her movements and her actions, and was an unrelenting optimist.
A Memorial Service will be held on SUNDAY, April 9, 2017 at 1 PM in The Benjamin Goldstein Chapel of Temple B'rith Kodesh (2131 Elmwood Avenue).
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday from 3 – 6 PM at Temple B'rith Kodesh.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Camphill Village (1601 Pughtown Road, Kimberton, PA 19942 or www.camphillkimberton.org).
