Ursula L. Granite
November 22, 2015, at age 86. Predeceased by her parents, Fred & Elizabeth Blum; siblings, Moshe & Maria Blum. Survived by her loving daughters, Deborah Granite & Tamara (Steven) Seidman; grandchildren, Eric (Teri) & Katharine Rabinowitz, & Zachary Murstein; two great-grandchildren; & sister Hildegard Herz. In addition, she is survived by countless adoring and adored cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends worldwide, including, Traude Pins, Hilde Adler, Josh Herz, Ruth Fried, and Margaret McGrath. Ursula was formerly a medical social worker of the Cardiology Unit and then the Burn Unit of University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital, and brought her bioethics skills to the Hospital and the larger University community, as well. A Holocaust survivor, Ursula was a fighter for those who could not fight for themselves, and a committed activist for human rights.
A memorial service to celebrate Ursula’s life will be held in the spring, her favorite time of the year. Details will be made available at a later date.
