Dear Lerner family
Like most of Hobby's friends , there is a special memory to share. For me , it is a conversation with my father describing THE FUNERAL OF Dr Macy Lerner in Jerusalem , on Mt Scopus , in a section that served to honor the burial of world renown medical luminaries. My father, Hyman Kolko , was a patient of Dr Macy Lerner, who he shared a passion with for the study of Talmud.
Rabbi Phillip Bernstein officiated and I believe Steve May , the mayor also
attended. Iknow that my father shared the recitation of Kaddish with Hobby and helped him reconcile the pain of his fathers passing. I shared the story with Hobby on a few occasions. May the memory of Hobart Lerner serve as a blessing.

Dear Ellie, thinking of you during these difficult times. I’m so so sorry to hear of Hobi’s passing. It was such an honor working with the both of you during yr move to the summit. I will never forget the love you had for each other. Your both being by each other’s sides during the most difficult of times. I enjoyed getting to know you and spending time with you at yr Penfield home watching the many birds that came to visit. Hobi and you referencing the many different types of birds that came by. I chuckle about some of his stories he shared. He came across as a toughy but he really was such a softy. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Hugs coming yr way. ❤️

Dear Ellie, I was saddened to hear of Hobi’s passing. He was such a uniquely gifted and gifting gentle-man. He so often offered both compliments and comfort to me . I’ll always indelibly remember the afternoon spent at your home. You were always both so gracious and welcoming. Hobie always had a kind , uplifting, truthful and encouraging comment that would warm my sometimes troubled heart ; a safe harbor and a discerning spirit. He will remain a standout among men. Thank you for sharing ... Sue Hurwitz

To all of Dr. Lerner's family and loved ones, so many prayers and thoughts are with you and i am so very sorry for everyone's loss. I was a child when we met and he was my eye dr many years ago. He was a great doctor who took very good care of his patients, a blessing for so many. Some people touch your heart forever and like so many of our dear beloved no longer with us he will be missed and loved forever.
