Dear Aroeste Family,
Over the generations my family has known Al to be a rock solid member of our Rochester Sephardic Community. He and Julia would make all the parties and bar mitzvahs. Personally, I have known Al all my life as he would give me the warm two handed hand shake every Shabbot at Light of Isreal. He would also chime in to help me say kaddish if I was having a little trouble. I will always remember Al to be a quiet and considerate gentleman. Please accept my condolences on his passing.

DEAR AROESTE FAMILY and the Sephardic Community of Rochester
I did not know Albert and his family, but I feel compelled to respond to his obituary , a marvelous tribute to the wonderful history of the loyal , dedicated an supportive Sephardic community and it's Light of Israel congregation. Having grown up off St Paul Street , attended Franklin H S , and worked at Kolko Paper , corner Ormond and Kelly Street , my circle of Sephardim was huge. The 4 corners of Our business world was home to the Calderons , the Ouriels , and the Cassorlas, all prominent Sephardic families. Kolko paper represented the Ashkenazim on the 4 th corner.
Rabbi Solomon Cohen was a very close friend of my father and taught our kids at Hillel school. They found a common interest in each others pathway thru the Jewish world of Rochester. Each time I drive past the new LIGHT OF ISRAEL I, think about the warm tradition and history of the Sephardic community.
