Very sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. We are cousins. My grandmother Ida was very close with Jerry’s parents Lill and Dick who were about the nicest people you could ever meet. They all had apartments in Hill Court in Irondequoit. We got to know Jerry as adults as he is 17 years older than I am. We lived a few houses away from Jerry and Sheila on Northfield Gate. Jerry obviously inherited that very special kindness, niceness gene. He will be missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Jerry at Champion from 1975 to 1990, first as a fellow territory Salesman, then as our "boss" when Jerry was the National Sales Manager for 100 of us from coast to coast..
As a former Head Football Coach, I can attest that Jerry was truly a "Players' Coach". When he got his big promotion, he never forgot what it was like to carry a sample bag into a school, simply looking for opportunities to help, while meeting a new Coach, Athletic Director, or Bookstore Manager. More often than not, it was the start of a relationship that frequently developed into a new friend for life.
It was that style of "selling" that is responsible for the 100 year old fantastic retail brand position that "It takes a little more to make a Champion" enjoys around the world today.
Rest in peace Jerry......You done good.
