When I think of my Uncle Marv,
I think of his sweetness.
His charm, his wit, but most of all,
his kind heart and his effortless sweetness.
He was always unequivocally sweet to me,
and his sweetness to others
always seemed to come so naturally,
whether he was feeling well or not.
Maybe it was the privilege of being his youngest niece,
maybe it came with being a bit of a princess,
but it was truly a privilege to be his niece,
and to be so loved by him.
He didn’t always express his love in words
or even in specific actions
(though he remained on the short list of people
I still kissed on the lips as an adult),
yet his fierce love for his family and friends was
unspoken, pervasive, and genuine.
We could feel it.
We knew we were loved by him,
and he knew we loved him back.
And I can still feel it.
His sweetness and his love.
I’m sure we all can, and we always will.

It was my honor to have met Marvin in my life. His loving and kind ways were apparent from the moment we were introduced. Gabe and Ashley spoke of him often so when I did meet him he certainly lived up to his reputation. To Marvin’s family and friends please carry with you the great memories of him always. I know I will.

So very sorry for your loss, Gail, Lauren, Beck & Gabe. Many years ago, I sang for Holocaust survivor function which was right after Gabe's Bar Mitzvah. Arthur Rosen asked me why I wasn't at "the" Bar Mitzvah and I explained that I knew David & Genia but not their son or their grandson. I was then admonished, "It was a survivor Bar Mitzvah! You should have been there!" Since that time, I did get to know Marvin and as a fellow 2G, I always felt part of the Rochester Holocaust survivor family. May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem...
Sincerely,
Bonnie Abrams

Laurie, Rebecca, Gabe and Gail. My heartfelt condolences go out to you and the rest of Marv's extended family and friends. He was blessed with a few close friends and family members who cared deeply for him and would check in daily to make sure he was okay. They deserve to be acknowledged here. I will remember all the good times we had over the years and may Marv rest in peace.

We are so very sorry to hear of Marvin's passing. He was one of my oldest friends, going back to #8 school. We followed each other to Irondequoit High School many years later. He was always a kind and gentle soul. RIP
