I have wonderful memories of Jackie in her role as a sagacious, but skeptical and humorous leader of study abroad, and as John's reigning diva. Join in honoring their life - plant a memorial tree

I met Jackie through her cousin Bruce, she was class of 69 Poughkeepsie High and Bruce and I were a year later. Thirty years on we got to reminisce at Bruce and Krystal's wedding, and we laughed about the time she and Bruce were thrown out of my room by my father, who was upset that I had brought "girls upstairs" (Bruce had long hair), precipitating a big shouting match between my father and I after they left. He later offer an apology. Very sorry for your loss, John and family. Her obit well reflects a fulfilling life and I have made political donation her memory in line with her obituary.

Dear John,
So very sorry for your loss. It's especially hard to go through this during this time of social isolation. All those who would like to comfort you can only do so virtually. I'm grateful for having the opportunity to know Jackie and to have worked with her and you. Please let me know if I can do anything for you. Know you are very much in my thoughts right now...
In Sympathy & Friendship,
Bonnie Abrams

I grew up with Ev and Al, they were my parents great friends, so many memories of our families. Al was a dry cleaner and my father was a dry cleaning mechanic, I grew up in Eve and Al’s, it was the dry cleaning store Al built and my father kept operating. Jackie was so much their daughter, the comedy that happened when we were together. Jackie laughing, Al laughing, Eve fighting with Willy and them both laughing. The stories were endless and I got to be there; to say it was the best of my growing up is not unreasonable. My parents were happy when we were with the Levine’s and that was my miracle. So I am very sad now and my sisters will be very sad to hear this. To spend so much time with a family for an intense snapshot of ones life and then the rest of life takes over. Those moments are more then memories they are the cement that holds the foundation of ones whole life together. I am grateful that Jackie and her family were so much a part of my early life and I am so sorry for the suffering her passing is bringing. Shalom

I Metz Jackie a few years ago and we hit it off right away. I was one of the first to take a year abroad (1966-67) and Jackie and I spoke at length about my experiences and other matters in UR history. She was fun to be with, smart, interesting and interested. Jackie was a kind person and I will miss her. My best to her family and all grieving her death. Mark Portnoy

There’s never been anyone like Jackie Levine. She was such a creative, knowledgeable, and generous member of--and ambassador to-- her University of Rochester, 19th Ward, and world communities. Her positive impact on the lives of countless students is an example to us all. My family and I benefited greatly from knowing her, and we will miss her dearly. Condolences to John and to all of her family and many friends.

John, and to Jackie's entire family,
Jackie's love and passion for learning and enjoying life inspired so many. Jackie taught me many things while working at the UofR. To seek, explore, and experience new places, people and cultures are among the gifts she shared with us all. Her courage and strength in our last correspondence was full of her indomitable spirit, and was comforting and uplifting. It was true Jackie-style.
Sincere sympathy,
Patti Pascarella
