I just found out .........one of my heroes in business.......I am so lucky that that I knew Jay and his sense of humor and friendship, and will hold in my heart forever
You may recall that we had lunch in the city probably 8 or 9 years ago and Jay and I skied at Vail several times
Jay and I became fast friends after our businesses were acquired by Suiza/Gaelick
I am Rick Meyersburg and my son Kevin , who was in awe of Jay , spent several days together
I know this is a difficult time for you and the Family, but if you would like to chat or email , i would like to offer you a few special moments that Jay and I shared

Dear Bunny,
Although we've only gotten to know you and Mort over the past few years, you seem like friends for life. Endearing only begins to tell the story.
Beyond Mort's many endearing traits, he was so funny I always went out of my way to be near him in social gatherings. Some people have the knack and are so inclined to tell funny jokes. But Mort was one of those rare people who was genuinely funny, actually hysterical, just being himself. For such an accomplished man in business, in philanthropy and in life in general, Mort was unpretentious to a fault, the authentic article. Wow, will he be missed.
With Sympathy,
Sandy and Nadine Rubin

Dear Bunny,
My condolences on the tragic loss of your beloved husband. I have served on the Jewish Film Festival for 15 years in Sarasota and tho, we did not know each other personally, I read that Mort was 82 years old and a native of Pittsburgh , Pa. I am also a native of Pittsburgh and am the same age as Mort. I did not know him in Pgh and did not know him here in Sarasota. I am appalled that
we came from the same city and I did not know him.
I graduated from Taylor Allderdice in 1955. Did Mort go to Allderdice.?
I am so sorry that I didnt know him.
My sincere condolences to you and your family
Sincerely,
Janet Rintzler Tolbert

He was a caring man and we enjoyed our Thanksgiving together. You two had such a tremendous love for each other and a perfect marriage role model. We are sorry we can't be with you during this period of isolation. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. When times are better, we hope to be with you to extend our love and comfort to you.

Dear Bunny and family,
How does one express the loss of a man with so many positive attributes, wonderful husband and father, successful entrepreneur, athletic, a remarkably endearing personality, a quick wit and very funny. It is the latter that I will long treasure!
Each year at the large Jewish Home Golden Alliance event attendees meet old friends and the chatting grows into crescendo.
Annually Mort would remind me that he was the only one listening to my speech in the vast tent (he was not exaggerating!) and that he alone possessed a copy that he cherished. And, he alone would be the only listening again!
I will so miss this annual banter!
Mort was special in every good way!
Our condolences

Bunny, Stephen, Lisa and family: Sending you all my deepest sympathy and love. Mort was the "cool" neighborhood father! I have fond memories growing up across the street from you. We were so close we called you "Aunt Bunny and Uncle Mort". Mort was always so nice to me and my sisters. Mort hired me to cut your lawn when I started my neighborhood lawn business; he didn't get too mad (or make me pay) for the few broken windows when I hit tennis balls across the street playing "baseball" in our front yard; and always loved to ask us Weinstein kids about the details of the "parties" we had when our folks were away. You are all in my thoughts. May his memory be for a blessing.

Dear Bunny,
I was heartbroken to hear that Mort had succumbed to this merciless and cruel Coronavirus. When my sister Susan (Gorin) told me that he was battling the disease and then subsequently passed away, I was overcome with sadness for your loss.
When Sue introduced me to you and Mort earlier this year at the Ringling Estate, I was struck by how sweet the two of you were together. You clearly were blessed with a deep love and it showed.
May you and your family find comfort in the lifetime of memories and love you shared during these difficult days ahead.
Sincerely,
Lisa Phillips ❤️
