I first met Irving at Jefferson High School during my senior year. He was a new science teacher, but I never had the pleasure of attending his class. We became more acquainted on the athletic field as he liked to coach baseball. Several years later my brother, Rich attended his class and thought him to be an excellent teacher.
Upon leaving Jeff I attending SUNY Brockport and later began teaching in the city. Irving and I met again at Douglass Middle School in 1968 where he was an administrator, and I, a math teacher. Over the years many of the male staff at Douglass tried to keep in touch at breakfasts, lunch, etc.
It is with sadness to hear of Irving's passing. He was a fine man, an educational leader, and a person of great integrity.
