Obituary of David I. Cohen
David I. Cohen passed away on May 14, 2019, at the age of 78, surrounded by his wife and children. Survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Suzanne; his children Andy (Natasha) Cohen, Nancy (Kevin) Lewand, Tifany (Erik) Pedersen; step-children Robb Lubin and Dan (Samantha) Becker; grandchildren Nathan, Zachary & Justin Cohen, Natalie, Joey & Jonny Lewand, Katelyn, Clara & Grady Pedersen, Courtney & Tyler Lubin, Wesley Becker; sister Susan (David) Pyner. He will also be missed by many relatives, friends, and his neighbors in both Rochester and Florida.
David founded and built a successful dental practice and was well-loved by patients and students alike. He leaves us with a memory of true strength and resilience. He could have made his life and the lives of those around him unhappy. After all, we know he experienced pain, much loss of mobility and had to forgo many past activities. Instead, his complaints were few, and his joke telling, laughter and easy smile so defined him.
He will be remembered for his kindness to others, his generosity of spirit, sharp wit, humility, and his pure love for Suzie and his family. We are so grateful to have known him and to have shared so many happy memories.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, May 17 at 1pm in Mount Hope Cemetery. (Click here for directions to the cemetery.) The family will be celebrating his life on Saturday May 18 from 12pm – 4pm at 32 Chasewood Circle. (Click here for directions to the house of mourning). If you would like, please bring a memory to share.
Donations may be made to the American Heart Association and the American Kidney Fund in David’s memory.
