We were away and just heard of Alan’s passing. Our condolences to family. Knew Alan from Fox’s. Always fun and friendly. We always kibbutsed with him. Ran into him a couple of times after he left. Such a nice guy. Remember him with affection.

Alan and I were in the same 5th-grade homeroom together. I'll never forget our teacher Mr. Thomas who would often say in his British Accent, "Becker! Get on!".
Whenever I saw Alan we would always chat. Alan was a good guy.
I am saddened to hear that he died.

My sincere condolences to Jay, Marlene, family and friends. We’re all hurting with Alan’s passing and the silencing of his infectious laugh.
He was the happiest when he had a purpose. Whether it was work, or taking care of family and friends. A part of us is lost with his passing.
Love you man,
Gary

I have such fond memories of Alan and Fox's. Alan WAS Fox's to me. He was always so delighted to see people. A sweet and generous spirit. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to his friends and family.

I am so sorry to hear of Alans passing. I have known Alan for most of my life, from kindergarten through the Foxes years and after. He was a very kind and thoughtful person who could laugh or make others laugh quickly and easily. I will miss him and remember him as a good and loyal friend. I am so sorry he left so quickly.

Sorry to see our friend Alan has passed away. Alan was a good friend to many and I always enjoyed his company for over 30+ years. He was my Mother's newspaper boy, he lived in the same neighborhood as us. I knew Alan from Fox's Restaurant were we became friends. Alan was always giving. He loved to give especially food but he was also a very kind and generous person. We brought our son Josh to the restaurant when he was just weeks old and he along with Rachel and Sarah were like family to him. We always called him Uncle Alan. He gave all three children Savings Bonds because he was just that sort of guy. Alan and I would have very long conversations at the Restaurant and I learned a lot about him and his life. Alan loved to bake and also a hobby of his was making ice cream where our household were the lucky beneficiaries! Alan was always there to lend a helping hand. He was always eager to help out or give a lending hand to anyone. I know Alan had a few close friends and was kinda of a private person who I was fortunate to know. The last time I saw him was at the Jewish Home and we talked for a while and he told me to bring some blueberry bagels next time I came to visit. He always said to me, "You are my best friend", I don't know how many people he said that to but I believe it must of been more than me. He never complained or told me when he was ill or wanted visitors. Sometimes I would not see him for long periods of time and then just like that he would show up again. It was always nice to see him. He was constantly asking what he could do to "Help" while never wanting help in return. I think he was just happy to have me around and spend time with him and just talk. Alan struggled with his weight and had lost so much and then gained it back and this would continue to haunt him throughout his life. He knew it was more that just an eating disorder it was a psychological thing as well for him as he also dealt with this with an employee at the restaurant as well. Alan worked for Fox's for many years and was the quiet partner but the one who always greeted customers and sat down and talked with them. He also worked for Wegmans in different capacities and always had nice things to say about them. I will miss Alan and hope he has a well deserved afterlife filled with love and happiness. Uncle Alan had the biggest heart anyone could know and you were lucky enough if you knew him. Rest in peace Alan, Baruch Dayan Emet.
