Obituary of Ruby Glicksman

February 22, 2019, after a long illness. Predeceased by husband, Harvey. Survived by daughters Dana & Marlaine Glicksman; grandson, Yared Glicksman & brother Elliot Rosenberg.

For the last 10 years, Ruby curated film series at Rochester’s JCC and Temple B'rith Kodesh exploring the Jewish experience through global and varied lenses. She was fluent in Yiddish; accomplished in life drawing, sculpture, and knitting; and an avid pianist. She studied interior design, psychology, and social work at Rochester Institute of Technology, where she received her undergraduate degree. Ruby received her LCSW from Syracuse University and practiced social work in Rochester, where she was at the forefront of the relocation and resettlement of the city’s Soviet Jewish community.

Ruby was active in the Rochester arts community and frequented the Memorial Art Gallery and the George Eastman House. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to these Rochester arts institutions or Hadassah.  

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 11 AM at Brighton Memorial Chapel, Inc. (3325 Winton Rd. S.). (Click here for directions to the funeral home). Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:30-4:30 PM at 51 Argyle St., Apt. #2. Click here for directions to the house of mourning.
