Obituary of Julius L. Silver
Julius L. Silver, Ph.D.
Passed away on February 3, 2019 at age 95. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Mabel Silver. He is survived by his children, David I. Silver, Paul S. (Cheryl H.) Silver and Daniel S. (Susan G. Williams) Silver.
Julius was a WWII Veteran who was sent to Los Alamos, NM by the US Army to work on the Manhattan Project, which developed the atomic bomb. He completed his undergraduate work at Brooklyn College, received his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut and did his post-doctorate work at Rutgers. He worked for over twenty years inventing many innovative printing and photographic processes and received 20 patents for his work. In 1975 Julius and his wife Mabel moved to Rochester where he enjoyed more than 20 years as a professor of printing chemistry at RIT.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 5th at 2:30 PM at Brighton Memorial Chapel (3325 Winton Rd S). The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 PM prior to the service. Interment will be held at White Haven Memorial Park. A period of mourning will be observed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30 – 9:00 PM at 71 French Road, Rochester, New York 14618.
