Mabel Silver was an outstanding teacher at Thornell Road School. We were lucky that our three children had Mabel as a teacher. I have never met such a talented and creative teacher at the Elementary Level. She stretched each student in every area. My son, Tom, still cherishes his Autobiography written in his Fourth Grade. He develped as a reader and a writer mainly through Mabel Silver. Today, as a doctor, he started a male Book Group and writes thoughtful articles on medical topics for Medical Journals. His ability was sparked by Mrs Silber. She taught these young students to appreciate and write poetry. Her love of theater was passed on by the plays her students put on each year and her knowledge and appreciation of a diverse global world was stressed in all her lessons. Tom was lucky to have her again in 6th grade . I'll never forget the Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta they staged that year. I could go on and on in her praises as a teacher and a person. She will never be forgotten by our grateful family. Rest well Mabel Silber.
