Simon was a wonderful man with whom I enjoyed many a chess game. He tutored and mentored my son Jacob[named after doc Mishkin] through his bar mitzvah, which was a wonderful thing for Lynda and I to witness.

I worked for Simon for 15 years. A more caring, kind and considerate man I have never met. A loan to help a young couple get married stands out as one of many kindnesses that will never be forgotten. He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.
Our sincere condolences to Ella, his children and family.

We remember Simon with great affection. What a wonderful spirit, full of sweetness and humor. Simon was a dear man and we will never forget his Dvar Torahs at BHBI. "Any questions? Any answers?" He always seemed to have a smile and we think of him with a smile.

Simon and Ella were "neighbors" on the 3rd floor at the Legacy where my office is located. Simon spent much time in my office (as a friend!) sharing laughs, stories, joys, sorrows. His greatest love was his Ella and he rejoiced telling me stories of their life together. He was a wonderful gentleman and it was my privilege to know him, Ella and his wonderful children and grandchildren. Peace and love to the Finkleman family during this difficult time.

I am saddened to learn of the passing of a true Renaissance man, Si Finkleman.
I have never met a more well-read, well-spoken, thoughtful, yet soft-spoken, modest and interesting, person in my life. During the 1980's and 1990's when I was practicing law in Watertown, NY, I had the good fortune to engage Si on a number of occasions in fascinating discussions ranging from chess to the current topics of the day. His breadth of knowledge was truly remarkable, and was exceeded only by his kind demeanor and remarkable interpersonal manner.
While the world has lost this special man of rare qualities, I join his family and friends in the celebration of Si's life.
My sincere condolences go out to his wife Ella, and to the entire Finkelman family at this time.
