I have had the privilege of knowing Marjie for 20 years and despite her constant discomfort, she always showed up with a smile on her face, side dish in hand (that woman could make some delicious brussel sprouts!!) and eagerness to help out. I always admired that about her. She will be greatly missed but her laughter and warm spirit will live on in all that she touched.

I only know of beloved Aunt Marjie through stories shared by my daughter, Sara. After she shared her gift of massage with Aunt Marjie, Sara would regale me with stories of this wonderful woman. She was a gift to those who knew her.

My deepest and most sincere sympathies go to you, Lee and your beautiful daughter, Ava, and your extended family. You were blessed to have had such a wonderfully loving Mom and grandma. I know what joy you brought to her life. All of us who were fortunate to know Marjie throughout her life time know the difficult challenges she faced with dignity and grace. Good-bye my old friend. Rest in peace, and know your memory will be carried in the hearts of all those whose lives you have touched.

My auntie Marjie meant a lot to all of us, but she especily meant a lot to me. She was the topic in my favorite older person essay. She was my inspiration to never give up. Most of all she was the cup to my cupcake, the sweet to my sweet tart and the M to my Marjie. We had a lot in common. My favorite thing is we both loved sweets. Both of us would always have room for desert! The struggle was to much for her and now her pain is gone, this is what she wanted. I really miss my auntie Marjie, and she will always stay in our hearts. I know she will always be looking down on us and making things right.

The following is from an email message we sent out on July 10th... We wanted to let you know that our dear Auntie Marjie passed away today. She's been in the ICU at Strong for the past 2 1/2 weeks following an emergency bypass surgery. Most of you knew her or certainly knew of her and how important she was to our family. We are sad for ourselves as it's hard to imagine our lives without her. But Marjie was ready to go - she was just waiting for the rest of us to be ready too. We are lucky that we each were able to spend time saying goodbye last night and this morning - even Jacob who came home from camp in time. She fought the good fight for 20 years and now her pain is gone, her struggle over. Thanks for your friendship, as always.
