Obituary of Leonore R. Mandelson

Mandelson, Leonore R. Leonore R. Mandelson died Sunday, June 10 at the Jewish Home of Rochester. Leonore Mercedes Rafaela Rosenthal was born on September 24, 1922 in Vienna, Austria. She lived in Mexico for the first ten years of her life and then in California for eight years, moving back to Mexico City for two years to attend Mexico City College. She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. She moved to Chicago where she worked in advertising until marriage and motherhood. She then moved with her husband and three children to Rochester, New York in 1959. She taught English, Spanish, and German at Penfield and Fairport schools. She attended the University of Rochester, receiving a Doctorate in Education. She also held a Master of Library Science degree from Geneseo College. She retired in 1984 and especially enjoyed playing the piano, spiritual life, languages, reading, travel, writing, and blogging. She is survived by her dear friend of 45 years, Florence Prawer daughters, Dayle (Dick Tyson), Laura (Bob Katz), and son Glenn (Mary Catherine) as well as six grandchildren.
