I am so very sorry to hear that we lost Alan. He was such a wonderful spirit, such a fighter. I enjoyed getting to know him while he was here with us at Good Sam, particularly sharing suggestions of music we both loved, and bringing him goodies from the bakery in Santa Cruz. He was fiercely independent, but sweet and kind despite all of his pain. My thoughts are with his family and friends, may you find peace in his memory.

Sweet memories of Alan at Red Wing Stadium.
Living out west, Cousin Harvey Kaplan told me Alan was somewhere around San Jose. On my frequent trips to the Bay Area I was never successful in finding Alan.
My sincere condolences.

Paul and I were so very sorry to see of Alan's passing! I think of your family fondly and often; every time I make "tunyfish" salad I think of Gramma and smile and I have never been able to make it as good as she did). Just so many good memories of you all. Your parents were wonderful as well and always so very kind to us. I remember Alan taking me up to that bar on Park Ave. when I lived with you during spring training 1968; and I remember backing out of your driveway and hitting something as I left Passover celebration at your house to go to Elmira for Easter celebration there. Our deepest condolences and love to you all.

Alan was such a good friend in high school. I tried so hard to find him after graduation. So sad that this is how it happened.

When I think of Alan, I think of that handsome young man playing baseball with his buddies on Nye Park and on the field as bat boy at Red Wing Stadium. I think of his love of jazz and gregarious nature. I was so happy to get to Skype with him through Shelly and to talk music with him and send him love. He was a complex man who did things his way right until the end. He put up a true fight to be here. We will miss him, yet we are glad that he isn't struggling anymore and hope he is at peace sitting at the 'big table' in heaven with Syl and Moe, Hy and Ru, Shirlee & Len and all the others who are there to greet him. Much love to Shelly, Jeff & Ann, Zack & Max & Susie.
