In this high tech world we live in it is strange to locate people from the past this way, but I saw this listing because my mother is also on the “Current Listing” at Brighton Memorial Chapel since she passed away last month. As I read your Mom’s biography she sounded like a wonderful person, and I decided to send my sincerest condolences to your family. I went to Irondequoit High School (Class of 1971) and I even think Barb and I went to Temple Emanuel Hebrew school classes together at one point. I also worked with your Dad, Judge Maas, when was a probation officer. I always thought he was one of the best judges in Monroe County, due to his compassion and sincere concern for people, even those who did not come before him when they were at their best. Having lost my mother this year, and my father last year, I just wanted to let you know the thoughts and prayers from your friends, family and acquaintances are where we all find comfort during these difficult times.

Fred and family-
Through the sadness and tears, what counts is the love that your Mom blessed all your lives with.
Not always easy for those who are left behind, to remember that death is the celebration of a great life, and begining of some thing far better and not the end.
Love ya Fred.

As a child, I practically lived at the Maas house. I really enjoyed your mother's irreverence. She had her own unique style and amazingly, she never lost it. About a year ago, I was having a pedicure and a woman rushed in to ask if there was any way they could take someone else right away. When they said yes, in walked your mother who had just gotten out of the hospital and wanted to get a pedicure first thing. We shared a few choice memories and the whole experience took me back to our high school days and put a smile on my face. My thoughts are with you--Barb, Debbie and Fred.

Dear Barbara,
It was an honor to know and serve your mother. She told me on several occasions how proud she was of you, her other children and grandchildren and how important it was never to take anything for granted. She loved all of you very much.
May your memories shelter you and give you comfort and peace.
Sincerely,
Liz Nally, LMT, Jewish home

I'm so sorry that I couldn't be there for your mother's final days, (I'm out of town right now), but feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to speak with her and all of you a few weeks ago. I will always remember her as a "true lady" with an amazing sense of humor. I hope your wonderful memories will replace your grief.

Did you ever laugh so hard that you couldn't breathe? Did you ever know anyone that made you want to squeeze her so hard? Those are my rememberances of my dear Rosie. I can't remember a time when she wasn't a memory filled with fun and laughter and very wise advice. I'm so happy we all knew her. My love and deepest sympathies on the loss of a timeless personality, and a loving mother.

My prayers are with you all. Our family is also dealing with a much loved Mom who is suffering and we know her time is limited. However, I am sure like all of you, we will never really be ready. I guess we all have to think about how much she is/was loved, will be missed and how much happiness she brought us.

Fred: Your devotion to your mother was more than any mother could ever dream of. The fact that you were there for her every step of the way must have given her great comfort during these last few very difficult months. May you find some peace in knowing that she is resting peacefully now. It is never easy to lose a parent. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and K.C. during this difficult time.
