Words cannot express how much my heart hurts for the entire Albert family. Our families were more than just neighbors growing up. My thoughts are with you.

Still trying to come to grips with Barry's untimely death. So saddened but I am so glad that I got to see Dot for the first time in many years and to meet his incredibly wonderful, thoughtful and sweet sons. My heart goes out to all of you and of course to all of Barry's many friends and other family members. Thanks also to Stan and Sue for their hospitality and I hope the great memories of Barry will help to sustain you through this tragic time.
Finally, I think Cassie's post above is the essence of Barry. Just being a normal nice guy and expecting nothing back in return. What a beautiful post Cassie and thank you for sharing that with all of us.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Albert once despite living down the street from him and being friends with his son, Ben, several years. At the time, I was selling coupon books door-to-door for my 8th grade trip to Washington D.C. I approached him as he was doing yard work to give him my standard pitch. He listened politely and said he was definitely interested. I took down his information and he gave me cash to prepay for the coupon book. Noticing he had given me a larger bill than necessary, I informed him I would have to get change from my house. He looked at me and said "well you'll need spending money for souvenirs, won't you? And food?" I replied "well.. yeah.." slightly confused. He simply said "Well that's what the difference is for." I'm happy to say I took the time to tell him how much that meant to me. He made nothing of it, wished me good luck, and returned to his yard work. Of all the single, small interactions people can have, I'm glad to have had that one with Mr. Albert. I'm also very grateful to be friends with his son, Ben, who has most definitely inherited that trait of simple kindness with no expectations of anything in return. As a friend and neighbor, I would like to extend my condolences and wishes for peace and closure to his family and friends. I hope you can add this small story to a list of wonderful memories you all may carry with you to remember Barry Albert by forever.

Sue and Stan and family, I am in stunned sadness and disbelief from your loss. To say you have my complete condolences seems so lacking at this time. I wish I could make the hurt and pain subside. Please know that you are continually in my thoughts and prayers.
