Ofer,
i will miss you so much! you always had a smile on your face:) many people cared about that and i hope u knew that. Roth has a memorial for you and many people wrote letters. johnny cool will be missed also. Your funeral was sad because people can think of their life without you and now they have to. i had to really think about going to burger because i would miss you and your personality. You might be mad at me for moving to burger....sorry. you always encouraged others even if you wee struggling on your own and maybe you could have helped yourself more when you needed to the most. i knew you even before i was in middle school which made your passing even sadder. Im sure you will be around to make sure im not getting in trouble just like you always asked when i came to visit you. I will never forget those times and i hope you wont either. i hope you sometimes think of me. i know you are in a better place then where you were. i hope you now have anything that you want and i wish you have no problems, sorrowfulness, sadness, hard times, or anything you didn't like. you will always be remembered no matter how much time passes. as your name means gold, you were precious to many. I thought of you from time to time after we left high school and MCC and wondered how you were. My dad died last year, so my mom took the bus to spend Pesach with us in Toronto. I was flipping through the paper when I saw your family name in the obituaries. My sympathies for your family's loss. I remember that your family was always so close to one another. Ofer was one of the friendliest people I can recall meeting in my time at Roth middle school. His enthusiasm and love for every student he came in contact with, was something you don’t see often. Ofer put smiles on peoples faces, he was always there for us, whether it be a shoulder to cry on, or just someone to talk to, I am deeply grateful for all he has done for us, and will never forget what an amazing person he was. Please accept my condolences to his family and dear friends. I remember my dear friend Ofer from BHS like it was yesterday. So many games of soccer, basketball, football and poker with Tom, Scott, Rob and many others. Ofer was so passionate about everything, but nothing more than his sports. I tell my kids all the time what it was like back in HS if my favorite football team (Giants) lost to Ofer's favorite football team (Dallas) the next day at school. Unfortunately, since this was the 70's and early 80's this happened way too often. The spirited rivalry was great.
I'm saddened to have lost touch with Ofer over the years, but happy to see so many of our friends stayed in touch with him. Even more comforting is to see how many lives he touched in such a positive way as evidenced by how many have spoken up about their relationships with him. Rest in Peace Ofer, you go on to a better, kinder place.

36 Years ago, Ofer moved into my neighborhood. He was the New Kid In Town. We immediately became friends. We competed with each other in every sport. Sometimes it got heated but it was always fun. We were on the opposite end with our favorite sport teams . Football was the best. Ofer loved the Cowboys and I loved the Redskins. Taking the same bus to school was wild. After every Redskin/ Cowboy game on Sunday, we argued about who had the better team on the bus Monday morning. We even competed with our favorite boxers. I was a huge Sugar Ray Leonard fan. Of course, Ofer was a huge Roberto Duran fan. We played soccer just about every day during the summer breaks. We played Poker for the entire 36 years we knew each other. There were arguments and brawls during some of those games as well but always fun and memorable. After high school, we went on vacation together to Cape Cod twice and the Bahamas. Of course, We were always competing, even on trips. During the last 36 years, i was good friends with the entire family especially Rami and Gabi. As we got older, we appreciated our friendship more and more. Ofer introduced me to my future wife Heather. He gave a resounding speech on why i should take her out. Later he called that speech 'his best ever." That speech worked and it changed my life forever. Ofer gave my best man speech at our wedding 4 years later. Ofer was the most popular person i knew. He simply made people feel good about themselves. Everyone wanted to be around him. He was the most energetic happiest person i have ever been around. Tom and I went out to dinner with Ofer 3 times in the last few weeks. Ofer was as enthusiastic as ever as the 3 of us talked about the Sport World. I would say Ofer and i saw over a hundred sporting events and concerts together. Things will not be the same without Ofer . No more phone calls, no more chats, no more sport conversations, no more movies, sporting events or concerts. A big piece of my life and my heart are now missing. What i do know is this: Ofer is up in heaven looking down on us and will inspire all of us to be happy and go luck as ever. He will be all of our guardian angels. In fact, he has been looking over me for the last 36 years . I am a better person because of him. RIP

He was a kind man and always greeted you with a smile. Ofer meant alot to both my children. His encouraging words and the fact that he took time to talk with them and ask about their lives outside of school impacted them very much. He surely will be missed. My four children were so blessed to have had Ofer in their lives every day for many years. He always brought a smile to everyone in the buildings day and was helpful in making sure students could transition to middle school life in the best way possible. He took the time to learn every single persons name, which truly meant a lot. He will be dearly missed.

Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 10 AM at White Haven Memorial Park (210 Marsh Rd.). Friends are asked to gather at the main entrance.
