Obituary of Gordon S. Present

Gordon Salmon Present of the Florida Keys and formerly of Rochester, NY, died Monday, July 3, 2006 following a long illness, one month short of his 89th birthday. Gordon was the former Chairman of Present Company Inc., a jewelry business which included a chain of 34 catalog showrooms throughout the northeast. While Gordon was extremely proud of his business ventures, he was most committed to his charitable endeavors. In 1987, Gordon and his family established the Present Charitable Foundation which has provided support to numerous Jewish philanthropies and health related organizations. For the past 35 years Gordon was a significant supporter of the Keys' Mariners Hospital and sat on the Board of Baptist Health South in addition to several other boards. In 2006, Gordon was named “Volunteer of the Year” for the Baptist Health South Florida Foundation. Predeceased by his parents Amos and Ida and brother Beryl, Gordon is survived by his wife, Marjorie son, James (Barbara) daughter, Nancy Present-Van Broekhoven (Paul) and his grandchildren, Scott, Lori, Rachel and Matthew. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 9th at 11 AM in the Main Sanctuary of Temple B'rith Kodesh (2131 Elmwood Ave). Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery.
