Obituary of Rhoda Helene Goldstein
Rhoda Helene Goldstein (Levy)
Rochester: July 21, 2009 at age 68. Predeceased by parents, Seymour & Jean Levy. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, William Goldstein; devoted children, Sanford (Marla) of Westchester, NY, Stuart (Shari) of Charlotte, NC, and Daniel (Victoria) of Rochester; grandchildren Steven, Sarah, Dylan, Jacob, Sophie and Sam; sisters, Judy (Brandy) Lesley & and Phyllis (Chuck) Padolsky, nieces & nephews.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on September 7, 1940; Rhoda was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Brooklyn College & Nazareth College (Masters of Education). She was the best wife, mother and grandmother a family could ever have. She took joy in watching her grandchildren grow and being a part of their lives. Rhoda was a school teacher in her youth and created the Gifted Program for the Brighton School system in the late 1970’s. She was passionate about teaching and education and had a thirst for knowledge. Rhoda later changed careers to become a life insurance agent. She took great pride in her relationships with her clients and helping those with difficult circumstances obtain insurance. She simply refused to accept the word “no” when it came to the needs of her loved ones or her clients. In 1995, Rhoda became the first woman elected to the Phoenix Mutual Life Ins. Co. Hall of Fame. Throughout her life, Rhoda was devoted to many local charitable groups, including the Jewish Community Center; specifically the Jewish Book Festival, Mary Cariola Children’s Center and many others. She was a proud member of Temple Beth El. Later in life, Rhoda and Bill took up a residency in Naples, Florida where she became active in local book clubs and the Naples Council of Foreign Affairs and became an avid golfer. Rhoda will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
