Sherm Levey and I became friends when I moved to Rochester in 1946. Our mutual interest in baseball formed the foundation of a friendship that only
his recent passing could sadly bring to an end. As kids he was Stan Musial and I was Hank Greenberg and there were times I think we really believed
that. Sherm went on to Monroe High School and I went to Brighton and later we became roommates freshman year ar Syracuse University. Were it not
for Sherms's generous assistance I'd probably still be a freshman, if in school at all. That was Sherm Levey. His generosity and willingness to help knew
no bounds. It's no surprise he went on to become such a successful attorney and asset to the community of Rochester. I used to take delight in telling
people Sherm was a friend of mine. This often resulted in the following response: "How could you and he possibly have been fiends?" I've often asked
myself the same question. It was my good fortune that we were and that wonderful memory will comfort me whenever I think of him.

Bob and I were touched by the beautiful memorial service and inspired by the loving tributes of family and friends. I have some unique early memories of Sherm, starting around 1948, when he would come to Brighton to hang out with Hank Greenwald (who later became the voice of the NY Yankees and the San Francisco Giants) and a group of us in the green space on Warrington Drive. He was fun and a solid, nice young man. And for a fun piece of trivia, my first "date" was when he invited me to the Monroe High School 8th grade dance. I wouldn't be surprised if I was his first "date" too. May all the wonderful memories, big and small, help in healing your tremendous loss.

Debbie,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family. It was my honor and privilege to have worked so closely with Sherm at the Jewish Home.
He was a wonderful mentor and support to me when he served as our board chair,I learned so much from him!
Having the privilege of knowing you since our teen years, it was evident how strong and devoted a couple you were!
Please also express my personal condolences to Amy whom I had not seen for years when she and my daughter were close friends in school.
The very best to you.

It is with profound sadness, that we has just heard of Sherm's passing. 53 years ago, we were married in Sherm's family room when neither of our families thought our marriage would last.. Sherm was our Best Man. His kindness then, was repeated many times over the years. While we have been too far away to be together, he has been in our thoughts on a regular basis, The world has lost a wonderful man and we have lost a much loved friend.
Our condolences to his family. We will keep them in our prayers as they go through this sad time.
