A true patriarch in the finest sense of the word; a rare and wonderful blend of an adventurous spirit coupled with generosity and kindness who made everyone feel so welcome. My thoughts are with his sweet family may they find comfort in his blessed memory.

I will never forget how kind and compassionate Elliot was to my family and especially my Dad when he became ill. Most recently, Elliot helped me with an ethical issue while negotiating a teachers' contract in Ohio. His advice helped to make the contact one to be proud of as it spoke to human rights. Whoever and whatever Elliot was involved with became better for it. Elliot was a blessing to all.

Debby and family. I was so sorry to hear about Elliott's passing. I had the honor of "working" with him at the JCC for many years. Recently, on one of my trips back to Rochester I happened to run into him. I can still picture his wonder, warm smile. My thoughts are with you and I want to send my deepest sympathy.

Elliott was one of my absolute all time favorite people, and a true role model who I have aspired to be like for most of my adult life. I was blessed to know him for my entire life, and he was a true friend and confidant to me thoughout all stages of my life. I will miss his warm smile and will never forget him.

"If you knew him, you loved him" So true. I first got to know Elliott and Debby at my first job. He always made folks feel at ease. I then worked at the Farbers for several years till they moved on to other endeavors and I would see you occasionally then. I remember Elliott fondly.

Debby and kids; Eliot was part of the family. We were honored when you attended our family schimcas. That he was a true and faithful friend to our dad does not need to be said. I can remember his toting our younger daughter on his shoulders at family functions so that she could see what was going on! Our deepest sympathies go out to you and yours.

Sharon, Gail, and Judy, I’m so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. Debby, I’m very sorry for your loss. But it’s a loss for all of us. Elliot was a longstanding and dear friend to my parents, and I remember first setting foot, very tentatively, in his home on Hemingway Drive in the 1960s and meeting the family when I came to go bowling with Sharon! But as all the messages say, the home was welcoming, and he was gracious, loving, inviting to all. I watch with great sadness as the years go by, and I think that community is worth a lot. Elliot helped create community in the best sense of word, from his involvements at Beth El to the summer services on Canandaigua Lake. I’m sorry that I can’t be with you during this week of mourning.

I first met Elliott when I joined the Men's Health Club at the JCC in April 2006. He became a source of inspiration -- always so positive and determined. I will miss Elliott and remember him fondly. It was Elliott who taught me that "everyday is a gift." My deepest condolences.

Met Mr. Landsman as the Chair of the Board of Fernclif Housing Development Fund. The last time I saw him he was visiting Fernclif and interacting with the tenants during a meeting. It was a delight to watch him listen to the tenants and interact with them about their Fernclif home. The measure of support was affirmed when a tenant was hired to be the Mayzon staff for the apartments. Far from an institutional model Fernclf is a model of independent living within the community using community based services contracted by the tenants to meet their needs. The merging of the Fernclif Board with Mayzon had made this model one that Mr. Landsman expressed to me needed to be explored for duplication. It was a pleasure knowing him and having him share in the excitement that Rochester's best kept secret for those with physical disabilities, Fernclif, offers as potential home model for others with disabilities

Years ago, when we each had a house full of toddlers, we and the Landsmans built houses next to each other. And sometimes maybe on a Sunday morning, I would see someone park in their driveway, walk in to their house with a worried face, come out half an hour later smiling. Elky never told us what he did for anyone, but it felt like living next to the godfather.
