To the Nozik family, my deepest sympathies. Mike was the first person I met at Phi Sig Cornell. Walking by the House he invited me onto "The Porch" to hangout with some of the brothers. It was an initiation of fun times to come at Cornell. What was clearly evident then, as it was when I bumped into Mike later on in life..in DC or at an Orioles game, was that Mike was one of the classiest and most genuine individuals I have ever met. Though our meetings were too few and far between, it has always been comforting to know that there are individuals like Mike who grace us with their gifts.

Our family is incredibly saddened to hear of Mike's passing. Mike and I were fraternity brothers at Cornell. Though it has been many years since we last spoke, as often is the case with college friends who move quickly in to their busy lives, Mike's smile and spirit were a constant reminder of a terrific friendship. He was a bright light and wonderful model for how one should live their life and treat others. He will be sorely missed but long remembered.

I am a Phi Sig fraternity brother from Cornell. Mike was a couple of years older then me...while we were not close friends, I can say he was admired and respected by the entire Brotherhood. Like your family, we have two children, and I cannot imagine the loss your family is experiencing, but know that you are surrounded by caring family and friends. I have thought about your family often in these last few days, and will continue to do so in the days to come. You are in my prayers, and I trust Mike's strong spirit will continue to grow through Ben and Josh.

It has taken me several days to deal with the fact that Mike has passed on. I had the honor of hiring and supervising Mike when he came to work here at Nixon Hargrave (now Nixon Peabody), not long after he left Cornell. Attending the funeral service yesterday and listening to the moving stories from family and friends brought back a lot of good memories. Mike and I reconnected a little when he and his family moved backed to Rochester, and it was wonderful to see how he had grown as an environmental professional and, more importantly, as a person. Gabriella,Benjamin & Joshua, please know that you are in my toughts and prayers, and that your Dad was someone special. Libby Ford

I worked with Mike at Nixon years ago, and am deeply saddened by this news. However, when I last spoke to Mike (paths crossing in the airport a little over a year ago) he was so happy to be back near his family, proud of his kids, and secure in the blessings of being near a large and wonderful set of family and friends. He lived his professional and personal life fully, and though he is gone too soon, he was a talented environmental professional, a wonderful human being, a terrific and loving dad, and a role model to all...his life was well-lived and should be celebrated. To Gabriella, Benjamin, Joshua and entire family:
Mike always called me one of the most gregarious persons he ever met, yet I find myself sitting here at a computer in Pittsburgh searching for words. Although Mike and I haven't seen one another for several years, he was one of the best friends I ever had. (Ironically, I had just reconnected with him earlier this year and I was very pleased to be talking with him about visiting in the coming months.)
Despite all the time apart, when we spoke recently, it was as if no time had passed at all. I can still remember the day I first interviewed Mike and connected with him immediately, the time we spent together daily both at work and at play, his decision to leave work to go back to school, the trip moving him in a Duke, and the day he got married, and so much more.
Benjamin and Joushua, while you may not need any reaffirmation from me, your father was a most honorable man and someone you should always be proud of, and someone you can aspire to be like. I can tell you that I am proud to have called him one of my truest friends; which means more than any material item you can ever hold or own.
May fond memories and all that was good about Mike live vividly in each of your hearts and memories for all of your days.
With great sadness, I offer my condolences from afar to you all, both immediate and extended family.
Sincerely,
Jerry
(Mike's friend and officemate from his days Nixon Hargrave)
