My husband did a surgical rotation in medical school under tutelage of Dr. Shapiro. He asked Dr. Shapiro if he remebered my father on whom he did surgery around 1956. He did remember and told my husband that had there been better treatment at the time my father would have survive longer than he did. My mother always had good things to say about Dr. Shapiro and I always have remembered his name.

Dr. Shapiro was always well respected within my family. My mother always spoke very highly of him both personally and professionally. He was my surgeon for two surgeries. His gentle and kind bedside manner always eased me during tense times. I'll never forget him.

Mary Jane and I are out of state and dismayed we cannot be at the service.
I have never met a man who was unmatched in each of his many endeavors.
My 20 year experience with Morrie when I was administrator of the Jewish Home was a true delight! When he was board chair and my boss, it was a great experience, his wisdom, his experience, his balanced approach and his wonderful sense of humor. All of this made our organization and me stronger.
Mary Jane and I cherish the wonderful times we shared with Morrie and Miriam.
I recall my colleagues from across N. America, when they met Morrie, only wishing such a board chair would come their way.
We have lost a true treasure, thankfully his good works live on!
Our condolences to the family.

I was a surgical intern at The Genesee Hospital in 1956. Dr. Shapiro brought such joy and warmth to the OR, that I smile when I recall the experience, even when assigned the task of positioning his foot-stand. There was no primadonna in him. He was just a warm mensch. God bless his soul. A. Klass,MD, Sarasota,FL
