I am deeply saddened by the loss of David Zinkin. David Zinkin was a fun person to talk to, and a wonderful game show trading partner during the 3 1/2 years my trading post was active. David appreciated all of the trades I did with him -- due to the high quality and hard work I performed on the tapes I made. There will never be another person like him.

Hi, I'm so sorry that I have arrived here so late. I just now heard the news. When I first saw the comment: "RIP David Zinkin with the dates" I thought it was some sick joke. I looked online and saw that it was not.
I am speechless.
I want to (belatedly) give my prayers and condolences to both David and his family. David was a good online friend who I met in the gameshow forum. He's helped me "out of the forum" in many situations, gladly and willingly giving me some form of technological advice.
I will never forget the generosity which he extended to me.
RIP David
Your friend,
Cathy

I was deeply saddened to learn of David's passing. Mainly because in our recent communications, he would never talk about his ailments. In September of 1979, the last year that I taught at Hillel School, David entered my fourth grade class. His curly hair, glasses and contagious smile did not reveal the underlying value of this most gifted 10 year old. David was truly unique, already having the potential to make a significant contribution to society.
During recess we would sit together and discuss subjects at such a high level, that if I hadn’t known that this 10 year old was sitting next to me, I would have thought I was speaking to a professor. He spoke about articles in the Wall Street Journal. I believe he started reading this publication when he was in kindergarten. And, before computers, he was my ‘spell checker’, ensuring that whether I was writing on the blackboard, or running off a ‘ditto’ every word was spelled correctly.
Years past, and I was working at Monroe #1 BOCES. David was also working there. I e-mailed him when he first began and asked him a question about computers. Sure enough, a reply arrived in no time - a document that could have been a thesis - stating the pros and cons of my question.
I rarely saw David, but each time I stopped by the technology department or spoke to someone from technology, I asked about David and proudly stated that I was his fourth grade teacher. And when I would run into his mother, Joyce, I would catch up with what was happening in David’s life.
When I think back to all the students I taught in 4th and 5th grade, I hope that they retained something positive that enhanced and made an imprint on their lives. I am not sure what David took away from his fourth grade experience. But, I am sure that he knew that he had a fourth grade teacher who had the greatest regard and respect for him not only as a student but as a person.
I was fortunate to have spent the 1979-1980 school year with David and to have learned so much from him. His legacy will endure.

David was a kind soul. Whether chatting with him intellectually on many levels or just sitting silently at his bedside during times of illness over the years, a strong bond was built. A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul; He guideth me in straight paths for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; David shall dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
David - I'll miss your smile and hugs. God Bless you and may he be with your family during this difficult time.
