Obituary of Marlene S. Samuels

Marlene S. Samuels We mourn the passing of Marlene Silverman Samuels, who died on December 12, 2013, after a short battle with brain cancer. Marlene, born in Rochester in 1932, was a resident of both Rochester and Boca Raton, FL. She was well-educated at Monroe High School, studied piano with the masterful Mrs. Prior at The Eastman School of Music, and continued her education at Smith College, graduating in 1954. Marlene will be remembered as a woman who deeply loved and was fiercely loyal to her husband, the late Richard M. Samuels, co-founder along with his brother Howard of the Kordite Corp. Marlene cherished her beloved friends, in the south and the north. Her friends and family will remember her vibrant presence, her confidence in her own opinions, her enthusiasm for art and music, and her abundant pleasure in tablefuls of criss-crossing, mutually-interrupting conversations punctuated by raucous laughter. She is survived by her children, Rick, Peggy, and John and her grand-children, Nate and Ella. Services and Interment will be held privately.
