Obituary of Gertrude (Trudy) L. Sheinfeld
Died in Brighton on May 28, 2018. She was born in Rochester, NY. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Albert; and sister, Shirley. Survived by her loving children, Dr. Sherri Sheinfeld Gorin (Brian Gorin) and Stephen (Jane Fried) Sheinfeld; grandchildren, Aaron (Michal) Gorin, Rabbi Evan Moshe (Chana) Gorin, Michael, David, Jonathan, and Andrew Sheinfeld; dear great-grandchildren, Akiva, Temima, Shira, Talia, Esther and Abraham; sister, Gloria (Ernest) Beren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Always both a gifted and diligent student, Trudy completed her undergraduate studies with honors at the University of Rochester. She received a Masters in Social Work from Smith College in Northampton, MA. She received an additional Master’s degree from The University of Rochester. She worked full time as a psychiatric social worker.
In addition, she held leadership positions--including as President--in a number of religious and community organizations; Temple Beth El Sisterhood, Hadassah, and National Council of Jewish Women. She was an ardent supporter of the University of Rochester and Smith College, as well as the Yiddish Book Center. While known for her active involvement in the community, she is best remembered for her devotion to her family and her strong friendships.
Funeral Services will be held on THURSDAY, May 31 at 12 PM (noon) in The Rabbi Abraham Solomon Chapel of Temple Beth El (139 Winton Road South). Click HERE for a map to Temple Beth El.
Interment, Britton Road Cemetery.
The family will sit Shiva at The Summit at Brighton on Thursday, 7-9 pm, Friday, 2-4 pm, Sunday, 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Monday 2-4 pm, Tuesday 2-4 pm and Wednesday 10 am - 12 pm. Click HERE for a map to Shiva.
