Obituary of Millie L. Levy

Millie L. Levy Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 18, 2010 at age 78 at the Jewish Home of Rochester. Predeceased by her parents, Sylvan & Yetta Barish & her beloved husband of 49 years, Leon S. Levy. She is survived by her three children, Gary (Carol) of Pittsford, Jordan (Nechama) Levy of Israel & Sharon (Robert Balfanz) Levy of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Yehuda (Lois) and Shimon Levy, Rachel Levy and Anna & Benjamin Levy Balfanz; brother, Phil Barish & his companion, Roberta Bowers. Millie is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and dear friends. Millie was born on January 26, 1932 in Rahway, New Jersey. She lived much of her life in New Jersey and obtained a Master’s degree in Education. She was a dedicated teacher for over 30 years. She was a lifelong learner who enjoyed being with her family, teaching, reading, gardening, studying Torah and listening to classical music. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, and as one who always put others first. The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful people at the Jewish Home and Lifetime Care Hospice for their compassion and caring. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 1:30 PM at Brighton Memorial Chapel, Inc., 3325 Winton Road South. Click here for directions to the funeral home. Burial will take place in Eretz Hachaim Cemetery in Israel.
