Obituary of F. Betty Duckman
Passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017, following a brief illness. Born October 3, 1925 in Rochester, she was the daughter of Zelda & Maurice Bilfield.
Betty will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, & great-grandmother. An exceptionally talented baker & cook, her hospitality, & generosity always made people feel welcomed.
Betty was a valued salesperson at Lord & Taylor department store at East View Mall & worked there up until the age of 88. She was appreciated for her professionalism & work ethic.
Betty also loved her game shows because of their challenging nature & would not tolerate any interruptions during them. She is perhaps best remembered for her tremendous talent as an artist & calligrapher, as well as her overall creativity. Every Christmas season, Lord & Taylor commissioned Betty to put her artistic touch on gift cards for customers.
Betty was a meticulous fashionista & always looked impeccable, whether she was headed to work or for a shopping errand. She had an enduring friendship with her beloved hairdresser, Bobby Buonomo of the Fountain Bleu Salon. Both looked forward to her weekly visits to the salon for more than 50 years.
Her husband, Henry Duckman, died in 1993; they were married 43 years. Survivors include her sons, Stewart Duckman of Rochester & Bill Duckman & his partner Stacey Morris of Loudonville; granddaughter Sydney & her husband, Seth Bedson of Canandaigua; grandson Sam Duckman of Rochester; great-grandson Henry of Canandaigua; her brother Norman Bilfield & his wife Leslie of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.
