Obituary of Maurice "Morrie" W. Isner
Passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the age of 88 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Marcia; his three children Benjamin Isner, Patricia (Dr. Louis) Kapner and Linda (Eric) Michelman; his four grandchildren Andrea and Alyssa Kapner, Jack and Jenny Michelman. He was predeceased by his beloved parents Mollie and Lester Isner and his sister, Elaine (Maxine) Goodrich.
Morrie was born on February 7, 1929. Growing up, Morrie was an All-City Basketball player, leading Monroe High School to the City Championship. In his adult life, Morrie also spent much of his time playing racquetball at the Rochester JCC and also excelled at this sport. As a result, Morrie was elected into the Rochester Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 1979.
He served his country in the US Army and was involved in the liquor industry for 55 years. He started two successful wholesale wine and liquor businesses: Stanmor Liquor and Riverside Wine and Liquor. He was active in the temple and was a generous donor to numerous charities.
The family would like to thank Gisele & the staff of the Jewish Home 4-NE for their love and care of Morrie.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11 AM at Temple B’rith Kodesh (2131 Elmwood Ave.).
The family will receive friends and relatives at Irondequoit Country Club from 2-5 PM on Friday, February 24th.
Donations may be made to Jewish Senior Life Foundation or the American Diabetes Association in his memory.
