Marion Thornton Skelskie
Rochester, NY, formerly of the Boston & Cape Cod area, passed away on August 24, 2013 at age 88. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Stanley Skelskie; brothers, Robert Thornton, Ronald Thornton, Roger Thornton. She is survived by her loving children, Barbara (Benjamin) Mer of Lincoln, RI, Judi (Frank) Deming of Fort Collins, CO, Cindy (Joe) DeFalco of Rochester, NY, Arthur (Nan Molofsky) Skelskie of NYC; beloved grandchildren, Nadav (Dara Wald) Mer of Chandler, AZ, Daniel (Kristen) Mer of Warwick, RI, Becky Mer of Lincoln, RI, Andrew & Kara Deming of Fort Collins, CO, Aaron (Angela) Stormo of Rochester, NY, Leah (Will Soles) Stormo of Rochester, NY, Ethan & Noah Skelskie of NYC; cherished great grandchildren, Zohar, Nathan, Collin & Audrey Mer, Elizabeth Stormo; siblings, Mary Lou Wittman of North East, PA and David Thornton of North East, PA; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Throughout her life, Marion touched many lives and hearts. She stood up for her beliefs and worked tirelessly to make her community and the world a better place. She extended kindness and compassion freely to friends as well as to strangers. She was a dedicated human service volunteer and held leadership posts within the Jewish community. She loved gardens, birds, walks, politics and reading. Most of all, she loved her family and friends. Marion had a strong will and a huge heart. She will be missed by many.
Funeral Services will be held SUNDAY, August 25th at 2:30 PM at Brighton Memorial Chapel, 3325 Winton Road South. (Click for a Map to the Funeral Home)
