Dear Cindy, Rob, Sean, Kenneth and family
We are so saddened to hear of Mel's passing. In thinking of Mel, I am reminded about so many happy times we shared together beginning with his trips to Duluth with his grandfather to visit the family; our visits to Rochester during college and graduate school; shared family occasions and trips to Arizona. As difficult as the last two years of Mel's battle with cancer has been, his journey was comforted by your strength and support and the love of family and friends. We want you to know that our thoughts are with you at this time and hope that the happy memories will help you with your loss. Sorry we can not be in Rochester today with you but our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love,
Mimi, Sam, Dahlia, Erik, Ava, Jacob, Ethan, Anna and Evan

Dear Family...I remember moving into 1650 East Avenue in September or 1964 and being "taken care of" by the whole family. The kindnesses extended to me and to my aunt, June Fidelman, will always be in our hearts. Mel, as everyone else, was a gem. Our sympathy to all...

Cindy, Rob, Sean, Kenny and family-
In 1992 Melvin and Cindy came to our home for the first time. Our daughter Adria was 3 years old and Alisa was 17 months. Uncle Melvin was soon a big hit with our girls. As soon as Steve and I met Melvin we made an instant connection. He and Cindy always made an effort to see us each time they came to Arizona. We attended many family functions together and at most of them we sat with Melvin and Cindy. Melvin was a wonderful man, with a great sense of humor, a very caring man, full of compassion, a true mensch in every sense of the word, we will miss him greatly and our family will never forget him and his kindness.
We are sorry that we were not able to attend the funeral today. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family at this sad time.
Love, Karen, Steve, Adria and Alisa

Dear Cindy,
We just want you to know we are thinking of all of you and send our heartfelt condolences on the loss of Mel.
I fell in love with Mel when I was 7 years old and I have saved the special picture of the two of us to prove it. He came to Duluth to visit his great uncle with his grandfather.
The family was so excited for his visit. They did everything but have a parade in their honor. I fell in love instantly with this tall, good looking, fun loving fellow who put up with my shenangans the whole time he was there. I never left his side and he never complained and in fact he encouraged me. As we grew older, we have been fortunate to share many simcha's together in Rochester, Phoenix and Minneapolis. The memories will always be cherished. He was such a special gift to all and he will be missed.
Love, Phyllis and Earl Cohen

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Mel. He has had a huge place in my heart since I was a little girl. I've always considered my cousin with the rhyming name one of the kindest, friendliest and coolest people I'd come across. I will never forget doing the Electric Slide with him at my wedding! My family's thoughts are with your family.

Aleza, Howard and Evan Freeman
