Obituary of Mildred D. Shapiro

Mildred D. Shapiro (Galinsky) Passed away on August 30, 2015 at age 97. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William and son, Julius. She is survived by her loving son, David (Kim) of St. Catharines, Ontario; granddaughter, Shaila Stoddard and her husband, Allen of Fort Erie, Ontario; grandson, Ethen Shapiro and his wife, Kisa of Tampa, Florida; grandson, Robert Shapiro of Bethesda, Maryland; granddaughter, Lisa Shapiro of Washington, DC; great grandchildren, Owen, Brayden, Davis and Evan. Millie was a devoted and loving wife, grandmother and great grandmother; and above all the best mother a child could ask for. After her retirement from a long career at Sibley's, she did volunteer work for a number of years at the Wilson Health Center and the Strong Doll Museum. She touched so many lives in so many positive ways through her simple words of wisdom and encouragement that she gave to both family, friends, and strangers. Her appreciation of the beauty found in nature, her artistic abilities and her love of life are the greatest legacy that she has left her adoring family. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Jewish Home of Rochester.
